Psychology of Black Womanhood Symposium

THURSDAY MARCH 5, 2026.      9:00AM - 5:30PM

Psychology of Black Womanhood
Research, Teaching & Community

The foundations of the Psychology of Black Womanhood book are firmly rooted at Spelman College, the first historically Black college for women. Spelman College's integral role in bringing this project to fruition goes beyond simply being the home to one of the authors; rather, this institution recognized the book's importance early on and provided support throughout the all phases of its development.

That is why we’re gathering at the home of the Psychology of Black Womanhood book for a symposium. Drawing upon the content from this groundbreaking work, this FREE event will extend our knowledge about the various aspects of psychological research impacting the lives of Black women in the United States. Community, academic and research experts from various fields will be sharing their perspectives during these interactive sessions. Through open dialogue we can gain further insight into how best address psychological issues faced by Black women in this nation.

We invite everyone interested in learning more about the Psychology of Black Womanhood book to join us at Spelman college for what promises be an educational and inspiring day!

  • Attendance and registration is free

  • Registration is required to attend

  • Networking and Book Signing opportunities
