Black women moving beyond surviving... to thriving!
In a society where inequalities and discrimination persist, Black women in the workplace have continued to navigate these challenges with unparalleled resilience. Studies have shown that they are more likely to experience pay disparities, microaggressions, and limited access to high-ranking positions compared to their counterparts due to the double bind of gender and racial biases. Despite facing unique obstacles, it is important to consider the research examining Black women's use of authenticity and resiliency to challenge stereotypes and pave the way for future generations.
To explore these processes, this episode features Dr. Danielle King, an associate professor of Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Rice University and the Principal Investigator of the WorKing Resilience Research Laboratory. Her research focuses on the topics of employee resilience, thriving, resources, voice, and stigma. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Spelman College and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from Michigan State University.
