Psychology of Black Womanhood Symposium
THURSDAY MARCH 5, 2026. 9:00AM - 5:30PM
Psychology of Black Womanhood
Research, Teaching & Community
The roots of The Psychology of Black Womanhood run deep at Spelman College, the nation’s first historically Black college for women. More than just the academic home of one of the book’s authors, Spelman played an essential role in bringing this transformative project to life—recognizing its significance from the start and providing unwavering support throughout every phase of its development.
Now, we’re coming together at the very home of this groundbreaking work for an inspiring symposium dedicated to expanding its reach and impact. Drawing from the book’s powerful insights, this free, interactive event will explore the many dimensions of psychological research that shape the lives and experiences of Black women across the United States.
Join leading scholars, researchers, and community experts as they share their perspectives, engage in open dialogue, and illuminate new pathways for addressing the psychological challenges—and celebrating the resilience—of Black women today.
This is more than a symposium—it’s a space for learning, connection, and empowerment.
