  • What is the exact location of the Psychology of Black Womanhood Symposium?
    Located five minutes from downtown Atlanta, Spelman College is a historic landmark that sits on 39 lush acres. The specific building information will be sent to those who have registered in January 2025.

  • Where can I find information about directions to the campus and parking arrangements?

  • Where can I park for this event?
    You cannot park on the Spelman campus. However, you are welcome to park in the Morehouse College Parking Deck. It is located directly beside the Spelman campus, and parking is only $8 for the full day.
     

  • If I am using a rideshare (e.g Uber, Lyft), where should I go?
    You should use the address 350 Spelman Lane S.W. 
    Atlanta, GA 30314-4399. This will take you to the main gate of the college; ride share vehicles are not allowed within the campus gates. The distance from the gate to the symposium building is approximately two short city blocks.
     

  • What are the accommodation arrangements?
    The Spelman Psychology Department will also be hosting the  Southeastern Teaching of Psychology Conference (SETOP) the Friday February 21 through to Saturday February 22. Psychology of Black Womanhood Symposium attendees can register for rooms at the hotel under the SETOP discounted rate. SETOP 2025 will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Atlanta – Windy Hill Ballpark 2055 S Park Pl NW, Atlanta, GA 30339. They have obtained a special conference rate of $159 per night which includes free shuttle upon request to The Battery Atlanta, and all hotel amenities.   • How is SETOP associated with the Psychology of Black Womanhood Symposium ? 
    The Spelman Psychology Department is hosting the  Southeastern Teaching of Psychology Conference (SETOP) the two days following the Psychology of Black Womanhood Symposium. While not directly associated with each other, we encourage you to attend both of these events! Scholars should submit presentations for SETOP so they can travel to both events.

  • What food will be available at the event?
    Gumbeaux Girlz Food Truck will be available for the purchasing of food the day of the event. The Spelman College’s food services will be a valuable for all attendees. The main options are located in the same building the symposium is being held, including the Alma Upshaw Cafe and the Manley Lower Food Hall (e.g. Slutty Vegan, Ace Sushi, Nom Station, Starbucks).
     

  • Can I register at the venue?
    Advanced registration is required. 
     

  • How do I pay for the registration?
    This is a free event. All that is required is advance registration.
     

  • I am a Spelman student/ faculty/ staff member. How do I register?
    Seats have been set aside specifically for Spelman College students, faculty and staff. Select this appropriate option of the two available when registering. You must use your Spelman email address to secure one of these seats.
     

  • How get updates about the event?
    Attendees will receive regular updates beginning in January via the email they used to register for the event. These messages will clearly say Psychology of Black Womanhood Symposium in the subject line.

SETOP CONFERENCE

The Spelman Psychology Department will also be hosting the  Southeastern Teaching of Psychology Conference (SETOP) February 21 -22. Consider presenting at both events to extend your shared interests network and combine travel costs.
